This photo was taken from the south bank of the river Thames, and it is of the Canary Wharf financial district in London.
Its’ main themes are shapes and texture. And it features the contrast between the curvy soft mud of the river bank in the foreground, the glassy, mirror-like quality of the river and the angular, flat office buildings.
This image comes from a church in the village of Pisac, Peru, as it was being demolished ready for a new one to be built.
The church itself was built on the site of a previous Inca ceremonial location, and this offering is a traditional native Andean people’s offering to Pachamama (Mother World).
Columns reclining in the spring grasses, this is not quite your typical tourist snap of the Acropolis. However, for me, it seemed to sum it up. At the time of taking this, the main building, the Parthenon, was undergoing major conservation work.
